SMN Reflections:

  • Wrestling as a sophomore, although I could have lived without having to make weight every week. This was the real thing, not “All Star Wrestling!”
  • Helping Clark Hamilton in his election to Junior Class President
  • The “Arm Pit” during basketball games (until they shut us down for being too rowdy!)
  • Learning German from Frau Frank. And I remain fluent, but the Lederhosen are long gone.
  • Getting my red VW Notchback stuck in the snow in the parking lot trying to drive through piled up snow while my friends stood by and laughed as I had to put it in gear, get out and push it myself. I am still in therapy.
  • Some 40 years later unexpectedly running into Dave Winney in Colorado Springs.

Standing on the highest mountains. Walking through the deepest and most painful of valleys. But most of life is walking on the plains, like we grew up with in Kansas. Family. Friends. Walking with the One who’s seen and experienced it all, but is alongside every step of the way. Green pastures. Still waters. Goodness and mercy. Forever.
